Recognising the value MMC offers to the construction sector, particularly within the housebuilding market, EGGER has appointed Barry Meacher in the newly created role of Senior Account Manager for Modern Methods of Construction.

With a particular emphasis on timber framing, the role focuses on strategic forward-thinking in the market, including growing EGGER’s brand presence within the UK’s MMC space. As part of the role, Barry Meacher will be working in close collaboration with EGGER’s product management team, looking at new product development and evaluating the manufacturer’s portfolio to see how existing solutions can be further developed to meet the evolving market.

Barry brings varied career experience to the role, spanning production, customer service and technical roles within the timber engineering industry, including most recently having worked as EGGER Account Manager for Scotland and the North region over the last four years.

Speaking about his appointment, Barry said: “It’s clear that MMC and timber framing is a significant growth area for the industry. This is especially true for the housebuilding market where it’s critical to its success; the UK Government’s targets are not going to be met with traditional brick and block. In challenging times for the industry, it’s a real statement that EGGER is choosing to invest in the area of MMC, and I’m excited and proud to be tackling this new role and responsibility.

“When you consider timber frame builds, contractors need to have materials and a supply chain that they can rely on. Quality and reliability are key to success, two qualities that are nothing new to EGGER and its approach. For me, the emphasis is going to be on innovating and evaluating, ensuring that we have the right solutions for both now and the future. Innovation is something that’s close to my heart and so I’m looking forward to the challenge!”

A great example of EGGER evolving its product portfolio to suit current industry challenges is its Peel Clean Xtra Large board. The larger format version of existing Peel Clean Xtra has been designed specifically with offsite cassette manufacturing in mind, allowing for floor cassettes to be constructed faster and with less joints.
